Temperature Effects of MD on Municipal Wastewater Treatment in an Integrated Forward Osmosis and Membrane Distillation Process

چکیده
An integrated forward osmosis (FO)-membrane distillation (MD) process is promising for the treatment and resource recovery from municipal wastewater. As higher temperature applied in MD, it could affect performance of both FO MD units. This study aimed to investigate effects type draw solution (DS) feed (FS) such as ammonium or wastewater containing at temperatures on membrane performance. It found that FS DS resulted a water flux RSF with either NaCl glucose due increased diffusivity reduced viscosity DS. However, by 23–35% elevated DS, than (8–19%), while reverse solute (RSF) increase rate was two times In addition, use 50 42 °C permeation whereas completely rejected all operating temperatures. Reducing pH lowering improve rejection minimize ammonia escape recovered water, but extra cost be led to. Therefore, results suggest an FO-MD °C, better Furthermore, simplified heat balance estimation suggests internal system very necessary treating treatment. sheds light selection ammonium. this highlights necessity system.

متن کاملForward Osmosis in Wastewater Treatment Processes.
In recent years, membrane technology has been widely used in wastewater treatment and water purification. Membrane technology is simple to operate and produces very high quality water for human consumption and industrial purposes. One of the promising technologies for water and wastewater treatment is the application of forward osmosis. Essentially, forward osmosis is a process in which water i...
متن کاملFouling distribution in forward osmosis membrane process.
Fouling behavior along the length of membrane module was systematically investigated by performing simple modeling and lab-scale experiments of forward osmosis (FO) membrane process. The flux distribution model developed in this study showed a good agreement with experimental results, validating the robustness of the model. This model demonstrated, as expected, that the permeate flux decreased ...
متن کاملA forward osmosis-membrane distillation hybrid process for direct sewer mining: system performance and limitations.
This study demonstrates the robustness and treatment capacity of a forward osmosis (FO)-membrane distillation (MD) hybrid system for small-scale decentralized sewer mining. A stable water flux was realized using a laboratory-scale FO-MD hybrid system operating continuously with raw sewage as the feed at water recovery up to 80%. The hybrid system also showed an excellent capacity for the remova...
